Chemical Peels
Also known as chemexfoliation, chemical peels refer to a group of acids (including AHAs and BHAs) that are used to chemically exfoliate the uppermost layer of the skin (epidermis). These are used to rejuvenate the skin by targeting signs of ageing, irregular pigmentation, inflammation and acne.
Skin rejuvenation is achieved by removing the top layer of dead skin cells from the epidermis, and therefore stimulating the growth of new skin cells to enable remodelling of this uppermost layer (cell turnover). This is a process that occurs naturally, however as we age it becomes much slower which results in dull looking skin, fine lines and wrinkles.
Chemical peels have different classifications depending on how deeply they penetrate the skin - superficial, medium and deep. At R J Rose Aesthetics we use the award winning AlumierMD peels, which are superficial and superficial-medium depth peels. We do not offer deep peels due to the associated downtime.
