Ageing

The structural support of the skin diminishes as we age. From deep down our facial bones and fat pads shrink. But not only that we see a decrease in collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, which gives the skin plumpness, bounce, hydration and elasticity that is associated with youth. All of these factors contribute to the development of fine lines and wrinkles. The appearance of ageing skin can be dry, rough or dull in texture with loss of tone, and can also result in increased sensitivity.

Hyperpigmentation 

This is classified as darkened areas of skin and can be caused by a number of things including sun damage, often called sun spots or age spots (AKA solar lentigines), patches can also appear following trauma (post inflammatory hyperpigmentation).

Sensitive skin 

Occurs when the skin's natural barrier function is impaired, which leads to loss of water from the skin. It also means that irritants can easily penetrate the skin.

Rosacea

Is a chronic inflammatory condition that often presents in middle-age, although can occur before. In a similar way to sensitive skin the barrier function of the skin is impaired. This can often present as facial flushing, persistent redness, visible blood vessels, changes in texture and dryness and in some instances papules and pustules.
